IWFF Preliminary & Final Judging
Preliminary Judges are volunteers who in most cases come from Western Montana although volunteer preliminary judges may come from other parts of the country or the world. All however, will have a background in media, science, or the humanities or they may be individuals from the film arena specifically.

Preliminary Judging spans approximately six to eight weeks and brings together participants for two day panels who then view each entry in each category, in its entirety.

Each panel consists of six individuals who work together to analyze, review and make determinations and decisions on the films - which will be passed forward to Final Judging; which are recommended for public screenings and which films should receive honorable mention awards. It is an intense but rewarding process and ensures that every film entered received the utmost consideration.
